Yes, four inches of snow, forecast by the Met Office well in advance and still the place comes to a standstill!
This is the view from the front of the house and I'm dreading going out to pick up my grand daughter. Doesn't look like the gritters or the snow ploughs have been out yet.
Here are my grandchildren an hour later playing in the back garden. They let me bring Nathan home from school at lunchtime too. Thank goodness I don't have to go back for him at 3 o'clock, the roads were terrible!
This is really Lauren's first snow. We've had very little since she was born. The last time I can remember snow as deep as this (and it's not really deep) was about six years ago, when Nathan was her age, four. This will be the first snowman built in our garden in years.
Well here we are about 3 hours later. There's a little bit of blue sky, some lovely creamy clouds and someone's turned the colour back on. The grey snow clouds have gone, for now!

What a lovely 'Winter Wonderland' series of photos. We also had snow yesterday. It makes everything look white and clean, and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLovely to have those pictures - your grandchildren were making the most of it.

ReplyDeleteOver the ground lies a mantle of white
ReplyDeleteA heaven of diamonds shine down through the night
Two hearts are thrillin' in spite of the chill in the weather.
Your pictures make me want to burst out in song...
...or at least go listen to Annie Lennox sing Winter Wonderland
Amazing change between first and last photos. How fun for the kids. They can have it.

The snow is pretty to look at and it makes the photos look so peaceful. I have to say that that's the only good thing about it. I don't like snow, no, not one bit! I hate to drive on slick roads. I commute and I grasp the wheel so tight that by the time I get home my whole body aches! That's all I have to say about snow!
ReplyDeleteLove your white stuff. Your photos are great. And I thought I was the world's greatest procrastinator. Now i can tell my husband I have been shoved off my throne :)
ReplyDeleteNice! I love the one that looks all black and white except for the red brick house!
ReplyDeleteI love the snow; maybe we will get some this year.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so envious of the snow :) Hope it comes to DC area soon.

Ah, that winter weather sky that blends with the snow. Looks like it warmed up with some color for the last shot. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI'm so not ready for another winter. I've lost a lot of weight and have absolutely no body fat left, so I'm always cold not. Not sure how I'll make it through this one.
ReplyDeleteI love the same scene in "black and white" and it in color, too. Both images are quite lovely. Great double skywatch post.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful pictures. Snow is pretty if painful, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteLooks like the grandkids were having fun.
Have a happy weekend.
~hippo hugs~
