Take That And Robbie Williams

Well who'd have thought it! They're getting together again to tour the UK in 2011 after 15 years since they split.

Even though I'm getting on a bit I still love pop music particularly talented groups that write, produce and perform their own music.
It was great to see Take That reunite in 2005 even though it was without Robbie Williams. They have had massive success. Their 2009 Circus Tour was the biggest selling concert ever in the UK. I missed that but bought the DVD and it its superb.

I would have loved to have got a ticket for the new Progress Live 2011 Tour but we're on holiday in May next year so I'll miss them.

The ticket sites crashed today when the tickets went on sale with the huge demand and people have been queueing in Sunderland for tickets at The Stadium of Light since Tuesday! They've added an extra day in Sunderland but it doesn't help. I'll just have to buy the DVD like I did with the Circus Tour 2009 and enjoy it at home. Not the same experience but it was worth every penny.

Hard to choose my favourite song but The Garden with the elephant was amazing. Just watch how it squirts water from its trunk and look at the person hanging from its tail. Take a look:

  3. I'm not familiar with Robbie Williams, but I know I'd love a show like that. His voice is beautiful and that elephant is magical!

  4. Rudee - Robbie Williams wasn't with them in 2009. It was probably Gary Barlow you liked although the others all sing now. That was one of the main reasons the group split because Gary who wrote most of the songs also sang them. Now they all feature on songs and are involved with writing and production. They split, thankfully grew up and four of them got back together! Now the five of them are back for the tour not sure if will go on beyond that as Robbie Williams still has a solo career.
You're right that elephant is fantastic. I wonder where it is now! Maybe they'll bring it back.

  5. Akelamula - Me too. I would have just tried to get them via a website. I remember my son queueing overnight for Queen's Magic Tour tickets at Newcastle football club in 1986. I didn't know he was doing it or I would have stopped him, thought he was at a friends house. He says it was fantastic and he would never have forgiven me if I'd stopped him. It was their last tour with Freddy Mercury, his one and only chance to see them live. Now I wish I'd gone with him!

  8. I've always been a fan of Take That, right back from the early days. Of course there were 2 major talents in the group, both Robbie and Gary, so it doesn't surprise me that one of them left.

Their image has been tarred slightly for me after reading about all Mark Owen's affairs.

  13. I love that you are "getting on a bit". Since we are the same age, I think I'll take that as my identity. Love it.

I've been a real slug about Blogging lately. I've missed you all and hope to do better.

  17. Hi Winifred ~~ I am sorry you won't be able to see Take That Live, but with the video, you can watch them over and over again. Have a wonderful holiday when the time comes.
Thank you so much for your kind words about my fire - it was scary.
Lucky you visited your sister-in-law when you did to find the gas on. I have lost my sense of smell, and she may have too. Glad you liked the Purina story - funny one. I didn't know what Coronas were either Winifred, but googled and found it is a brand of beer.
Take care, my friend, Love, Merle.

  22. Ohh I'll have to watch that later...I'll bookmark it.

Have a wonderful holiday Winifred and stay warm...Are you freezing over there?

  23. Sandy - It's been freezing for the past three weeks! There was supposed to be a thaw today but it didn't materialise. Just got more snow! I think we're in for a white Christmas. I really can't remember having such cold weather for so long here. Snow doesn't normally lie for long near the coast. Still it's not as bad as they're having in the South of England.
