Knitted Chairs? Post 150

This is beginning to turn into a knitting blog. Not deliberately, it’s just the way things are panning out.

I kid you not, knitted chairs do exist. I'm not going totally ga ga just yet. Well they're knitted covers really.

Seems like a new art form to me. They even have a website dedicated to them. It’s brilliant. If you don't believe me take a look Knitted Chairs. Here's a designer one. I'd love a chair like this. It's gorgeous.

Can you believe there’s even a Knit a Chair Day in London. Take a look at last year's here on You Tube.

It's a very environmentally friendly idea. Who'd have thought you could turn ordinary plastic garden chairs into works of art.

Are you up for it?

Well here’s the link to the pattern for the chair in the top picture.

In the meantime need a tune to knit to?

  1. Well, I am not too fond of the first one but love the look of the second one. I have never seen or heard of this before, so glad you passed it on to us Winifred. Have you been doing some knitting? I still do, and try to fit in quilting when I have time. Have a great weekend!

  2. That is something to knit that I would never have thought of doing. I am like Brenda I like the second one.

  3. I like them both, but the second one best. As for the song, well let's just say I'd probably stab myself in the eye with a knitting needle if I had to knit listening to that more than once. Wherever did you find that video?

  4. I'm totally intimidated. I am just wanting to learn to knit baby hats.

  5. That second one is a designer chair and it's in my favourite colour.

Rudee- I'm not sure where I heard it. Think I was just looking for knitting songs. I found it eventually on You Tube. I remember Arthur Askey from my childhood. He was a funny little bloke and I mean little. Very chirpy, cheeky but no bad language. The kind of comedian you don't see now. I sound like a moaning old git.

I don't know about other people but I find my knitting pace varies with what I'm watching on telly or music I'm listening to. If it's an exciting programme I knit faster!

Hippo Chock - There are some great knitting websites now. I spend many a happy hour looking at them. Lots of free pattern websites and some brilliant You Tube videos on knitting.

  6. Dear Winifred ~~ I have never heard of knitted chair covers before.
You would have to be very keen.

My Easter was lovely, seeing 3 of my 4 children. One daughter lives in
Queensland. I am so glad that you enjoy the puns and jokes.

Take care, my friend, Lov e, Merle.

  7. gday Winifred.
Knitted chairs Wow I do a lot of throw rugs and have done a lot of knitting over the years but would never tackle a chair, as matter of fact never seen a knitted chair till now .. I love the grey chair with the cables oh what a lot of work and concentration needed to complete it..

  8. Looks like the second chair is the winner in popularity. I have a niece who could do this and I just might have to send her this information. I hate to give her any more brilliant ideas because she can knit anything! What will they think of next?
