Hayley Westenra

My earlier post on We'll Meet Again included a video of this lovely little Kiwi who is one of my favourite singers. I play her CD, Pure a lot!

Here, in a live performance in New Zealand in 2005, she's singing one of my favourite songs from the CD. Love the lyrics, very thought provoking.

What a gorgeous voice she has.

For anyone interested in the original music, it's (Marcel) Ravel's Pavane Pour Une Infante Defunte.

  2. I can see why you like this Winifred. Her voice is really nice. I like Ravel, but my husband who used to listen to a lot of classical doesn't have much of his work....that I know of anyway. May have to go out and buy my own. Thanks for sharing this.

  8. Hayley Westenra is the youngest UNICEF Ambassador.

She has recorded theme songs for DIsney and other films and sings a lot with artists such as Andrea Bocelli. Luckily we see a lot of her in the UK despite her being a New Zealander. I know she has visited Canada and also sung in The White House but I think she tends to tour in the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

Her PURE CD was certified the best selling classical CD of 21 Century in the UK. She's not just a classical singer though she can sing some really good modern stuff too.

  11. Wow on both the beautiful video, she is a great singer and on those wonderful photos of your trip!! I really enjoyed seeing them. And about those living on top of that mountain, see, that's where I would live, up and away from everybody, ha.

  12. Thanks for the visit.

    I do like the song.

I was on Google Earth and looked up a blogger from Cumbria and then thought I would look your area of the world up and found Washington and Sainsbury, The Galleries, The Oasis and Washington St. Joseph RC Primary School. Your city shows up really well on Google Earth.

You can see what a small place I live in. Type in 43 Ankara Avenue, Brookville, Ohio and it should stop on my house with a green roof. lol

    Amazing this technology.
