My Internet Access is Messing About - Again!

Just a quick note to say sorry I've been out of action for a few days and probably will be for two or three weeks. I am having major problems with my Internet service and am in the middle of changing providers.

My access has been problematic to say the least for a couple of months. Sometimes I can't get access to anything for days, other times I get an hour or two. I've tried to resolve the problems with my provider but they keep re occurring, so I'm off to another one. Just hope that one is OK!

I'm taking advantage of getting onto the Internet today to apologise for not being able to access and comment on your blogs. I really miss seeing what's happening with you all.

Apology

I didn't mean to set off a heated discussion with my Rupert Murdoch posting and please, please take note - I did not say I would shoot Rupert Murdoch! That was Dennis Potter bless him. I suppose he felt he had that luxury as he was dying.

Just shows how we all perceive things differently even when we are seeing the same things. It would be a boring world if we were all the same though wouldn't it!

  1. Winifred,

I'm glad you are up and running again I was beginning to think your silence was because you were annoyed with our comments.

I realize that poor misguided play write fellow was the one that wanted to shoot Mr Murdoch if he could but you seemed to be suggesting the same thing. I apologize If that was an incorrect assumption.

I feel sorry for someone that is dying and is holding hatred in his heart for a man who has never harmed him and wishing him dead just because he is a successful media giant business man and had the nerve to think differently than him in a political sense.

By the way most Americans admired Margaret THatcher and Tony Blair I hope that doesn't upset you. This Brown guy is another story we are all out-raged to think they would send a terrorist back to Libya just because he is dying of cancer, I think it would be more appropriate to send the murdering "DEVIL" back in a crate after he died.

I guess your politicians don't care about the feelings of the family members, whose loved ones went down in that plane over Scotland 20 years ago. I can imagine their despair over this "beast" being set free, "totally outrageous."

Mr Murdoch believes in free enterprise as most American do. We believe in being rewarded for our entrepreneurial ventures and admire people who are brilliant and successful.

I guess Americans are used to paying for entertainment. My satellite bill runs about $110 a month and if I want to see something on pay per view it is additional. If we go to baseball games, football games, tennis, etc we pay the price.

There are a lot of expenses occurred to bring all this to us, salaries for the millions involved to get it to us, satellite isn't for nothing and an enormous amount of money that the sportsmen get paid for playing these sports. It has to come from somewhere.

I am not sure what you meant by "beware of Australians baring gifts." Can you elaborate? I am interested to know exactly who you were referring too.

    Have a great day. :)

  3. Marjorie - Don't get me started on Margaret Thatcher please, I really detested the woman!

I'll have to disagree with you about Dennis Potter, he was brilliant and never misguided.

As for the Lockerbie bombing I don't know who was guilty, we never will know the truth about it. I do think there was a lot going on and held back from us. The relatives of the British victims believe that and they don't think that the Libyan Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi was guilty.

I think it wasn't a particularly good decision that was made here either. However if you're going to lay blame, the person responsible for this was not Gordon Brown. The Scottish Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill made the decision. You need to remember that Scotland is an independent country.

Just as in the USA you have separate states we in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are separate countries with our own legal, education, health, economic systems etc.

The Aussie I was referring to was Murdoch!

I'll end it here as I think we'll have to agree to differ on many of the other issues you raised.

  5. The internet is a blessing and a curse. I suppose we could all start writing letters again, like they did in the Victorian era, but how would EVERYBODY see them?

Good luck with your glitches, Winifred.

  7. Winifred, I know Scotland is a different country from England , etc.

I heard through the network that Gordon Brown could have stopped the terrorist from being shipped back to Libya for the "Royal Welcome". I know all about the controversy regarding his involvement.

We will have to agree to disagree that I realize. I am not taking that right for granted. The day could come when we wont be able too. A frightening thought.

Well, I must run I am having 25 people for dinner tonight and lots to do.

    Have a great day!

  9. I can't believe it my Internet is still working.

Not sure what network you mean Marjorie.

If you check the online news you'll see Gordon Brown has said he had no role in the decision. His words "Because it was a decision made on quasi-judicial basis by the Scottish government, because it was a matter legislated for by the Scottish Parliament and not by us, it was a matter in which we could not interfere and had no control over the final outcome".

All I can say is that if he had interfered, the Scots would have been up in arms with him for overruling their Justice Minister even though it was in my opinion and lots of Scots, a very naive and bad decision.

I'm no great fan of Gordon, but in all honesty he's in a no win situation. Have to say I don't support any political party so I've no axe to grind.

I agree with you totally that it would be a frightening thing to lose our right to disagree. Freedom is something we all value.

Hope you enjoy your dinner party tonight. That must be a lot of work cooking for twenty five people.

  15. That darned internet. It's like the little girl with the little curl. I feel that way about blogger much of the time. It used to be so easy to post pictures. Now it's a pain in the patoot.

I'll keep checking in. And, my dear, I'm glad we all have differences and live in lands where we can express them.

  16. I wonder if you can read our comments? Anyway, I haven't been posting because we had grandson and his friend here. It was a great time.

Now I am catching up on my movies and I believe you recommended BLEAK HOUSE by Charles Dickens. Anyway, if you did, thanks a bunch. It is very good and nicely acted.

When you can spend time in blogland again you will see how many of our friends are having your same problems. Guess as we all get older so do our computers. We always miss you and will be glad when you are back fulltime.
