Two Soups

At the moment I’m just a little bit incapacitated. Somehow I’ve done something to my back. The only thing I can think of that may have caused it, was scrubbing the kitchen floor on Friday instead of mopping it. Well I'll not be doing that again in a hurry.

I haven’t had a problem with my back for years and thought I was rid of it. Wrong! Just hope it clears up for my swimming lesson on Thursday.

Well my walking has to be seen to be believed. I’m a little better today but on Saturday and Sunday I was walking ever so slowly and bent over. You’d think I was a hundred. I had to laugh though because I reminded myself of a sketch from one of the fantastic Victoria Wood TV series.
If you’ve seen Julie Walters as the elderly waitress in the Two Soups sketch, you’ll know exactly what I mean. If you haven’t just take a look:

  4. I hope your back is quickly on the mend. With spring here, we finally feel like spring cleaning and then the back goes, to bad. The "Two Soups" clip was amusing. And I agree with the man, "No wonder the place is empty!" lol...

  5. Hahahha...funny clip...not your back hurting though. Just proves that housework is hazardous to your health! I broke my tailbone once mopping the kitchen floor. Hope you are on the mend soon Winifred!

  6. Very funny video. I know well how the back problems are-they're miserable. Try alternating ice and heat. It helps. So do yoga stretches.

  9. I hope you are on the mend with your back. I know what you mean about kitchen floors. My knees have been taking turns paining me and being sore since I last scrubbed up my kitchen. We are about to buy a sponge mop...or you know, my gardening pad may work. Get well soon!

  11. Sorry to hear you're having back problems. Hope it's better soon.

The video was funny, I just hope I never have a waitress like that and if I do god gives me the patience's to put up with her. LOL

  12. The clip was hilarious!!! But it's not funny when you have a bad back. I have ahd trouble since a car accident in 1995...I sometimes walk just like that waitress! LOL I am serious. Do hope you get to feeling better soon. Maybe the swim lesson and the water will help it. I used to do my floors on my hands and knees but no longer. Plus, I never allowed shoes in the house! LOL Still don't. That does help me keep things cleaner longer...ha-ha

I found that ice helped my back more than heat...but it depends on the sprain or whatever you did to it. Do hope it gets better soon...no fun when your back is out.

Loved that clip....just too funny!!! Are we getting that way in our golden years??? LOL

  15. Oh dear, I've been there with back problems and it isn't fun.

I keep meaning to get here and get sidetracked. I see your name and remember I've visited here before. I'll try more often to get here and read you.

    Hope you heal up quick.

  16. Hope your back is a little easier by now Winifred - know the feeling all too well. Loved the sketch - it is one of my favourites. I used to work with a friend who can take it off exactly! A x

  17. I feel your pain. Hopefully you will be back to normal before your vacation. I think swimming might be helpful along with something to relieve your symptoms. A bowl of soup might help:))

  19. Dear Winifred ~~ I am so sorry your back is so bad and hope it soon comes good for you. Mine has been crook for almost 4 weeks, just starting to feel better now. The accident was the last straw. But both Kerry and I weren't badly hurt, Very shaken, a few bruises, and shock. So it could have been worse.
Actually Kerry was here yesterday doing my vacuuming etc.
I am glad you enjoyed the Navajo
    story and the NHS jokes.
Thank you so much Winifred for your concern and good wishes. I do
hope your back is better very soon.
    Take care, Love, Merle.

  20. I hope you're feeling better, Winifred. A bad back is no fun at all.
That sketch was very funny. Was that Celia Imrie? The fellow looks familiar, but I can't place him. Julie Walters is always good. I loved her in "Educating Rita".

  21. Thanks everyone for your kind wishes. I am feeling a lot better.

Thanks also to Rudee, Nancy and Marjorie for the medical advice.

Hoping to go to my third swimming lesson tomorrow. I'm going to go carefully though.

    Frank
Funnily enough like Coody I have a House Boy too but he's very unreliable. He also uses a mop and doesn't get the floor very clean. I would sack him but he pays most of the bills. Nowadays I'm a kept woman!
