Update Your Secret Word

Have you got this message?

To prevent abuse, a recent update to Mail2Blogger disabled easily guessable secret words. Please update your Mail2Blogger secret word.

I see it when I go to the Blogger Dashboard. It's been there a couple of weeks now and it has me flummoxed.

I'm surmising it's to do with emailing stuff to publish direct to the Blog. However the secret word thingy has me baffled. I've never set anything up as I don't use this feature. So why do I see the message? Maybe they just post it willy nilly on everyone's Blog.

Does anyone know whether we can get rid of the message or do we have to wait until Blogger decides to remove it?

  1. I've never seen this message before. You could ask the question on their help board.

  3. New! Do you link to Amazon in your blog posts? Our Amazon Associates integration makes linking easier, and can even earn you some money! Details here.

This is the new thing added to my dashboard. I have no idea what a Secret Word is, so no need to update it, I guess. So I can't be of any help.

  4. I have not seen it yet either. Maybe it has something to do with your settings?

  5. Strange what things pop up sometimes. I can never really figure these things out, but sometimes they go away. I haven't seen that on mine...yet. I'll let you know if I do.

  6. I haven't had anything like this, but sometimes outside sites can infiltrate Blogger, I'm thinking.

Let Blogger know, if it doesn't go away - I think there's a HELP link on your dashboard.

How are you doing anyway, Winifred?

    Hope you are well!

  10. I see it and they don'd really explain what to do or how to do it. They don't supply any links to help either! Very frustrating!

  14. Karen - Thanks for contacting me about the secret word. I never post by email so thankfully it doesn't affect me.

  15. I had the same warning for weeks, really frustrating as you said, especially when there's no instruction how to do so. But I finally figured you need to go to settings > Email
For posting using email, there's a blank you need to fill, which is a part of email address that you can use to post by sending messages to it. That word you select is apparently is your secret word. I tweaked it and the warning was gone.
