Skywatch Friday - 7 November 2008
This is another one of the pictures I took at Lightwater Valley, Ripon, North Yorkshire.
It was such a beautiful day, chilly but so sunny. When I took this picture of my daughter and grandson on The Ultimate Ride I noticed how lovely the sky was.
Not sure what the cloud formation is though, I've forgotten all the stuff I learned in geography. Hope I re-learn it participating in Skywatch.
This photo doesn't do the view justice. It was beautiful looking across the lake to The Big Wheel which we had just left. It poured while we were at the top of it.
We walked around the lake and a few minutes later, whilst we were standing in the rain, the sun started to come out over the Big Wheel. Just wish I was a better photographer.
Roll on summer I love those blue skies and white fluffy clouds.

The sky photos are lovely with the different cloud covers. The first one is all wispy and bright. The second is dark and menacing!!!
ReplyDeleteThat ride thing looks kind of scary! I love your sky pictures. Looks like a nice place
ReplyDeleteHi Winifred,

Watching the clouds was a big deal for me when I was a young child. I spent hours doing it and seeing them form into animals or objects. My son used to be so quick about naming the different types of clouds, and now I think even he has forgotten them. I definitely have! Your pictures are very pretty. Oh I just noticed on your sidebar, you are doing Sky Watch Friday. Have a great weekend Winifred!
ReplyDeleteWe've just had a few wonderful days; blue skies, warm temperatures, sunshine. They say that is ending tonight. C'est la vie!!
ReplyDeleteLoved your pictures.

Beautiful photos but that first ride looks way to scary!
ReplyDeletethis is great! thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments. It's the first time I've participated in the Skywatch Friday. I'm looking forward to future Fridays but I suspect there'll be lots of boring grey ones to come.
ReplyDeleteYes that Ultimate ride was one I most definitely opted out of. I did go on the Big Wheel, probably wasn't anything like the size of The London Eye and similar rides but it was quite big enough for me. Didn't cost as much either!
It was a day with amazing rapid changes in the colours of the sky and clouds.
Thank you very much for the awards. I'll have to do my homework and check what I have to do with them.
