Amigurumi

Amigurumi is the Japanes art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals and other things. Apparently!

Had to say I'd never heard of it until last week.

Not sure what exactly this is, but it looks quite cute. The pattern is on Wikihow here http://www.wikihow.com/Crochet-an-Amigurumi-Toy

If you want to find more animals check out this website. There's lots of other stuff too here, snowman, frog, fish, jack -o- lantern or a skull bag for Halloween, even food like candy corn? There's also lots more crochet and knitting patterns on the site and lots of them are FREE!

This Blog has some unusual ones, jammy dodgers, strawberries, mushrooms and a bear dressed up as Little Red Riding Hood. Not all the patterns are given but it gives you some ideas. http://imaginarywardrobe.blogspot.com/search/label/amigurumi

Just in case you don't crochet but fancy giving it a try here's some instructions.

  1. Our daughter got me a book called, Amigurumi World, seriously cute crochet by Ana Paula Rimoli. I've only done two so far, a little duck and a pink elephant, but the elephant is quite big compared to the tiny duck.

  2. Pretty cute. I think I may have seen those before somewhere. The etsy shops are really growing. My daughter and her friends are starting to want to get into it. I was at her house today teaching her how to knit. She is left handed though, so it was hard for me to teach her. Have a great evening!

  3. Hi Brenda

I haven't heard of Etsy Shops before. Is it a type of craft shop?

My daughter was never very keen on sewing or knitting which really disappointed me. She leaves it all to me. Her thing was and still is horses. Now her daughter Lauren is nearly four and she seems to be very arty and is interested when I sew and knit.

Now she is left handed too so I can foresee problems. If you have any tips I'd be pleased to have them.

  4. Winifred,
Etsy shops are handmade items that alot of younger women sell their crafts on. Well, it is not exclusive to younger women, it just seems that women in their 20's and 30's have the most shops. I think I have a side bar on my blog that lists them all. It is similar to ebay only they just sell it themselves. I think, I may not know as much about it as I am talking about here. It is just really cute stuff, that's about all I know. Ha!

but the idea sounds great. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I am glad that you liked the things I post. I will post more pelargoniums next post. I am being careful not to trip over the dogs. And I hope you don't trip over your cats.
    Take great care, Love, Merle.
